This performance compliments our Yr 9 term 1 area of study: Poetry.

Poetry is at its most powerful when it is performed, because it returns to its roots as a spoken art form. In performance, poetry is not just read, it is felt!

Complete Works Theatre Company are presenting “Australian Poetry and Storytelling” (This is the same group who perform Macbeth for our Yr 10’s).

The performance begins with an early bush ballad looking at ways rhyme, rhythm and simple structure can tell a story, then moves on to more contemporary Poetry. Year 9’s will then examine how poets employ literary devices, specifically the use of imagery. Yr 9’s will also explore how they can come up with unique images of their own and some ideas for writing and editing their own work. They will finish off with some spoken word poetry from the winners of recent slam poetry competitions.

There will be a 60 min performance followed by Q&A time with the actors.

What a treat!
